“As Jordan McCarthy’s reining horse trainer, I have coached her through her Short Stirrup years (10 and under) and into her youth years (as a thirteen and under) and now again in her 14-18 riding years. In this time Jordan has shown three vastly different horses. She has exceptionally good instincts on a horse. She listens very well to instructions. She is a very hard worker and dedicated to the sport! She is extremely competitive but also very realistic and doesn’t give up. I believe she would be an asset to any team that she would be a part of.”

“When Jordan was a short stirrup rider, I had the pleasure of coaching her. She always listened to what I had to say and gave 100% effort every time she rode. She always came with a smile on her face and was eager to learn. While under my guidance Jordan won the year end championship for InRHA. Unfortunately, I ended up leaving IL for TX so I could not continue with her on her equestrian journey. What I know about Jordan is that if given the opportunity she will do everything she can to make the most of it.”

“I have been fortunate to serve as Jordan McCarthy’s advisor since her Freshman year in the High School of Health Sciences. When she began high school, she was tentative and quiet but focused on her studies and her future. Today, she is still focused but hardly tentative. She has become a leader in our school who is meticulous in planning and organizing. Many well- meaning teenagers are interested in being leaders, but they lack the skills and temperament to be effective. Because of Jordan’s involvement in 4-H and competitive riding, she has developed the soft skills necessary to be a successful leader. She can defend decisions when questioned and confidently communicate with peers, staff, and community members. Jordan is an accomplished equestrian and capable leader who will be an asset to any team she joins and to any school she attends.”

“My name is Mark McKone and I was Jordan McCarthy’s hunter/jumper trainer for two years. Jordan is interested in competing in equestrian sport at the collegiate level and I am writing to encourage you to consider her as a member for your team.
As Jordan’s trainer I was able to see her passion for horses and horse sport. She always showed up ready to learn and consistently pushed through challenges to improve her skills. Jordan took care to acknowledge her wins gracefully and used mistakes as opportunities for improvement. She is receptive to coaching and is always looking to develop the best plan for success moving forward. Jordan’s dedication and upbeat attitude made her a joy to have in the barn.
I am confident that Jordan represents all the qualities you are looking for in a collegiate equestrian.”

“I have been the coach for the Kettle Moraine Equestrian Team for three years. During these three years Jordan McCarthy has been an essential team member. She, along with several other riders, helped develop the team the first year. The second year she helped lead the team to a first-place finish at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Horsemanship Association state competition held in Madison, Wisconsin. The third year she has continued to play a vital role in the success of the team.
Jordan has shown great potential and knowledge in her equine skills. From horsemanship to showmanship, she has excelled. She continues to grow as rider and is willing to take on new challenges and learn new things.
Jordan takes teamwork to heart. She does not hesitate to step up and compete in classes outside of her comfort zone. She has placed in the top of these classes and even earned first place wins for the team. Jordan is willing to help other team members tack up a horse, help navigate a difficult pattern or offer emotional support during stressful situations.
Outside of the riding, Jordan has become the contact at Kettle Moraine for other students interested in joining the team. She regularly emails families and students about upcoming meetings. She also provides information for team events for the daily announcements at school.
I will greatly miss Jordan as a member of the team. Her positive attitude and riding ability has been an asset. If given the opportunity, she will make a great addition to any equestrian team.”

“Jordan is an exceptional example of a hard-working athlete, with a drive and determination that I have grown to admire. She carries qualities that are beyond her years and has become one my favorite athletes and people to work with. I have had the pleasure of working with Jordan in two distinct disciplines. As her strength and conditioning coach, I have seen what she can do in the weight room. She brings with her a hard hat and lunch pail mentality and is willing to be ‘bad’ at something in the pursuit of mastering it. Something that is becoming harder and harder to find in most athletes. On the soccer pitch and in our private training sessions, she has progressed immensely. Here, her other positive qualities have a chance to shine. She is a cerebral player and likes to ‘think’ things through. She is curious. She asks the right questions. You can tell she wants to understand deeper and get better. In short, she is about as coachable as they come. She is also tough. I will admit, in the pursuit of getting more out of her as a player and individual, I have challenged and at times been harsh on Jordan. She has always taken it with grace and an open mind. She knows why a coach demands more of her. She knows what tough love is. She handles criticism well and doesn’t break. These are not only qualities of an athlete that you want on your team, but ones of a leader. Jordan will go far and do well in anything that she truly puts her mind and heart into. I passionately believe that. She will be a positive addition to any team.”
